Welcome to 2011 / 2012 Ski Season

My name is Cory Fry and I am the President of the North Bay Ski Racing Club. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share a little information about our ski racing program for children. This year the program will be administered by Gabby Charlebois, Lynne Cote and myself. Our goal is provide a fun and safe environment for your child to learn the basics skills and tactics of skiing and ski racing.

New this season, we will be having a training weekend for our coaches prior to the start of the season. We have contracted David Hunt with the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation to come and spend the weekend with our coaches. The goal of the workshop is to educate our coaches and help them plan and execute the various stages of the Snow Star Program.

There will be 21 training days this winter and 3 races. We will also have a fun day for both parents and kids. The Northern Ontario Nancy Greene Championships will be held in Sudbury this year. This event is open to all of our athletes and we encourage everybody to participate.

For training days, we ask that you are ready to ski for 9:30am. The most productive part of the day is usually within the first few hours so we ask that you be punctual. Race days will have an earlier start of 9:00am. This year, racers will compete in a variety of race courses designed to enhance skill development.

The Club’s success is based largely on our volunteers. Our goal is to provide a great experience for all families. We will be asking for your support throughout the season. Skiing is a great sport that can be enjoyed by the entire family. I would encourage you to come out on race day and cheer on the group.

Looking forward to see you on the hill this winter!
